We have hosted workshops with instructors invited from across Canada to give weekend instructional sessions to improve the quality of the band's performances. Instruction can be arranged locally for new or novice pipers.
As the Band is an independent group, its operating budget for uniforms and instrument maintenance is paid for by revenue from engagements with some support from the City of
St. John's. We are members of the
Atlantic
Canada Pipe Band Association.
In recent years we have collaborated with the band of the
Royal Newfoundland
Regiment in several concerts with great success. On average there are 80-100
events per year with either the full band or individual pipers performing for things as diverse as birthdays, weddings, head tables, concerts, Remembrance Day, funerals, Church Parades, multicultural events, opening ceremonies for sporting competitions, Burns Suppers or just for fun on George Street.

The City of St. John's Pipe Band is a pipe and drum band
based in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. The band
plays regularly throughout the year at a variety of
functions. We
may be seen at parades, festivals and sporting events. Television appearances are not uncommon when the Band plays for national events taking place in the province, and we're always a favourite for outdoor summer occasions.
